"Pink October has been helping local women in the Yuba-Sutter communities since 1997. We currently hold 4 events in Yuba City consisting of the Race For Awareness, Scramble Fore A Cure Golf Tournament, Survivor Fashion Show and Dinner, and Guiderra's Harley Ride. Our emphasis is on encouraging women to get mammograms and the need for early detection.

Our partners, Fremont Rideout Health Group, Sutter North Medical Center and Sutter Buttes Imaging, offer low cost mammograms to women in our local community that are either under insured or un-insured.

All proceeds from the Pink October events benefit the Geweke's Caring For Women Foundation. This foundation was established in 2006 to help breast cancer patients in our community through grants to assist with their financial needs. Many women are in hospice care, some have husbands that have quit their jobs to provide care, and they are in need of money to cover utilities, house payments, or even funeral expenses. We are very excited about this new foundation, and are looking forward to helping even more women.

In addition, Pink October in Lodi hosts 3 events in partnership with St. Joseph's Medical Center, Woodbridge Community Clinic and Delta Radiology Medical Group. Their funds benefit the American Cancer Society with their local programs."
